Bjorn Johnson currently serves as a Grants Manager for the Gulf Coast Ecosystem Restoration Council (RESTORE Council). Created by the RESTORE Act of 2012 and comprised of the Governors of the five Gulf Coast States and Cabinet-level officials from six federal agencies, the RESTORE Council is responsible for restoring and protecting the natural resources, ecosystems, fisheries, marine and wildlife habitats, beaches, coastal wetlands, and economy of the Gulf Coast.

Johnson’s prior federal experience was with DHS/FEMA where he worked in the Louisiana Recovery Office as a project officer for the Public Assistance and Hazard Mitigation Grant Programs.

The majority of Johnson’s professional life has been in the private sector where he was employed by a number of consulting firms as a program, project, and grants manager. He served as a technical advisor/program management consultant to the State of Mississippi on their Coastal Impact Assistance Program and as a grants management consultant to the City of New Orleans on their FEMA Public Assistance Program. He was also a real estate acquisition consultant to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on multiple hurricane protection projects and various real estate acquisition programs throughout South Louisiana for other private and governmental clients.

Johnson holds a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Loyola University in New Orleans.
