The Gulf Coast Ecosystem Restoration Council has recently taken action on the following four State Expenditure Plan (SEP) amendments:
- March 17, 2022, the Council Chair approved the Louisiana SEP Amendment #2
- April 11, 2022, the Council Chair approved the Florida SEP Amendment #4
- April 27, 2022, the Council’s Executive Director recommended that the Council Chair, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, approve the 2021 Mississippi SEP Amendment
- May 3, 2022, the Council’s Executive Director recommended that the Council Chair approve the Alabama SEP 2022 Amendment
Under the Spill Impact Component of the RESTORE Act, commonly referred to as “Bucket 3”, 30 percent of the funds in the Gulf Coast Restoration Trust Fund are disbursed to the five Gulf Coast States. Each state is required to develop SEPs and submit it to the Council Chairperson for approval, and the same is true for SEP amendments. These projects, programs, and activities will be implemented in a manner consistent with the requirements of the RESTORE Act, as well as the goals and objectives of the Comprehensive Plan. States amend SEPs to increase funding for projects or programs in existing SEPs and/or to add new activities to the SEP.
